Rates of House Rent Allowance wef 1-11-1973 to 31-7-2016

The rates of House Rent Allowance for the Central Government Employees for the period from the 1st November, 1973 to the 31st July, 1997 and from 1st August, 1997 to the 31st August, 2008 are as under :-

From 1-2-1982, Dearness Pay is treated as pay for calculation of HRA.
From 1-4-1986, HRA to be calculated on the basis of Basic Pay + Stagnation Increment + Non-Practising Allowance, if any.

On the base of recommendations of the Sixth Central Pay Commission, the earlier classification of cities has been revised viz. A-1 to ‘X’; A, B-1 & B-2 to ‘Y’ and C & Unclassified to ‘Z’. In determining the revised classification, the population of Urban Agglomeration area of the city has been taken into consideration. Accordingly, the rates of House Rent Allowance shall be as under –
